For those are new to the word, 'Arangetram', it is the debut performance of Indian traditional dances by the performer on stage. It is used for debut performance of South Indian dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchupudi etc. The word 'Arangetram' comes from two Tamil words: Arangu and Eru, which together mean 'to ascend the stage'. Some other classical Indian dance for example Kathak, uses a different word 'Rangapravesh' for its debut performance debut performance or Arangmanchpravesh for Odissi, but the practice is most established and most popular in connection with Bharatanatyam.
